Rhythm changes are deceptively simple. They can be a lot of fun to play over, but if you get stuck in a diatonic rut, who's going to want to listen to you? In our April '96 article "The Rhythm Method," master pianist Andy LaVerne shows you how to approach rhythm changes in ways that open up a world of possibilities for hip blowing. Here are Standard MIDI Files of Examples 2 through 14 from the article, recorded by Andy, suitable for playback on any sequencer that reads multitrack SMFs.
